Mental health care for moving and non-moving population


The Regional Development and Mental Health Association in collaboration with the HCDCP, the Bodossaki Foundation, the Transgender Support Association and the ΝGO’s Vavel, Praksis and Solidarity Now, organized on Thursday, June 22, an educational day with the title: “Mental health care of moving and non- moving population: Training by professionals in the field “.

The event, implemented with the support of the Mental Health Directorate of the Ministry of Health, took place at Social Dynamo (25, Karneadou Street), a place dedicated to the empowerment of civil society, focusing on learning, professional support and networking. It is an initiative of the Bodossaki Foundation, which is being implemented in cooperation with the City of Athens ΣΥΝΑΘΗΝΑ group and provides comprehensive support to civil society stakeholders in Greece.

The educational day was implemented under the framework of GEMMA programme for the domestic violence against migrants and refugees and was adressed to health professionals working in mental health structures (Mental health enters, day centers, hospitality structures) within the public mental health system.

The following sections were covered:

  • Guidelines for the provision of mental health services to refugees and migrants.
  • Situation mapping and population needs.
  • Experiences from the front line (hotspots, open camps).
  • Human trafficking in migrant and refugee population.
  • Trauma and mental health.
  • Mental health care of refugees with psychiatric problems.
  • Protocol to combat sexual abuse in refugee population. Applications to public mental health.
  • Assist of LGTB refugees and migrants.
