PHILOS in the International Conference for IHR implementation

PHILOS executives participated in the International Conference on “Best Practices in the implementation of International Health Regulations (IHR)”, organized in Athens on 7-8 June by the Hellenic Center for Disease Control and Prevention (HCDCP), in collaboration with the European Commission and the Consumers, Health, Agriculture and Food Executive Agency (CHAFEA) under the auspices of the Ministry of Health.

HCDCP Vice-President, Agis Terzidis, participated in the fifth session of the conference dedicated to immigration and public health. Mr. Terzidis presented the current situation in Greece regarding migration flows and referred extensively to CARE and PHILOS programs focusing on the refugee crisis.

PHILOS Scientific Director, Chrysoula Botsi, referred to the most important initiatives carrying out so far in our country in order to prevent and promote migratory health as well as to assess potential risks posed to public health by the movement of a large number of people.

The International Health Regulations (IHR) is the key legislative framework of global health security defining the core capacities that Member States should have in place to prepare for outbreaks and ensure the required response.
