Mr. Agis Terzidis, HCDCP Vice-President and PHILOS Managing Director, presents the socio-demographic and health profile of refugees / immigrants residing in Greece, in the context of the three-day seminar which commence in Athens on Saturday 14 October. The seminar is co-organized by EAN [European Program for Intervention Epidemiology Training (EPIET) Alumni Network], the Mediterranean Program for Intervention Epidemiology Training (MediPIET) and hosted by HCDCP.
The workshop aims to provide an understanding of refugee/migrant-related health issues and to give an overview of surveillance systems, health screening programs, migrant health policies and recommendations within the EU and neighbouring countries. It also aims to improve the design, implementation and evaluation of public health actions dedicated to this vulnerable target group.
The first two days of the workshop are dedicated to lectures, debates and exercises, while during the third day, the participants will visit the open camps of Eleonas and Schisto.
