Training seminars on the protocol of vulnerability and of sexual and reproductive health

The United Nations Population Fund in collaboration with PHILOS executives and the participation of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and the European Asylum Support Office (EASO), are implementing a series of training seminars on the Northern Aegean islands.

The seminars will be attended by PHILOS new recruits working in the first reception and identification centers for refugees / migrants, as well as by members of international organizations and NGO’s active in the field.

In this context, will be addressed issues related to sexual and reproductive health, to trafficking and gender violence, as well as to the recognition, clinical management and treatment of torture victims and vulnerable groups’ members, accordingly to the Greek medical protocol that has been established and already implemented at the first reception and identification centers.

The seminars are based on Istanbul Protocol (IP – Manual on Effective Investigation and Documentation of Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment). IP is United Nations standard for training in the assessment of persons who allege torture and ill treatment, for investigating cases of alleged torture, and for reporting such findings to the judiciary and any other investigative body.

The entry of the seminars tοok place on 25-27 October at UNHCR premises in Mytilene with the participation of more than forty people, while similar ones will take place next month in Chios, Samos and Kos.
